ALICE TEMPERLEY, TEMPERLEY LONDON
Alice Temperley launched Temperley London in 2000, and it didn’t take long for her ultrafeminine party frocks and separates to be embraced by fashion darlings like Helena Christensen and Jacquetta Wheeler as well as high-end luxury stores, including London’s Harvey Nichols and Bergdorf Goodman. Past seasons have showcased classic draping and a bit of rock-and-roll edge in pieces like detailed boleros and jumpsuits; however, the label has since veered in a more romantic direction and has come to include the Temperley London Black Label, a line of dresses made for the red carpet and a bridal collection. (Her wedding garb has gone down the aisle at many British socialites’ weddings, including Emilia Fox and Jodie Kidd.)

The line also reflects her zealous fascination of French Baroque, Persian and Art Nouveau styles. Katrina states, “To aspire, to inspire and to be inspired. I aspire to inspire. I seek to inspire. My plight is to create a cohesive coalition of worlds for women; for the owner of my work to be inspired.

ANASTASIA LACE BLUE SAPPHIRE AND TOPAZ EARRINGS

SCOTT MIKOLAY JEWELRY DESIGN
Scott Mikolay’s exclusive line of jewelry draws its inspiration from the time of the Tudors, a time when weighty statement jewelry was a part of everyday court life. Although jewelry adornment was used as a way to designate one’s position in society, the jewelry itself also embodied a romanticism that was very characteristic of the time. Mikolay’s sensitivity to a modern woman’s lifestyle is evident in his streamlined, luxuriously powerful jewelry that is easily worn and displayed. This refreshingly new interpretation of vintage wear makes Mikolay the visionary he is.

METROPOLITAN BUILDING
Dating from 1909, the same year the Queensboro Bridge was built, the Metropolitan Building was first an electrical parts factory. Seventy years later it was long vacant and in a sad state of disrepair. In 1980, Eleanor Ambos, who had a successful antique furniture rental business in Manhattan, bought the building for storage space and to accommodate a variety of artisans to set up their studios and workrooms. She undertook a daunting restoration project, and today the Metropolitan Building is a much sought-after venue: for parties, weddings, and film and photography shoots.
